So one thing I stumbled upon while working on Mod-G recently was the ability to edit skyboxes in each level. It appears that when you create your levels the engine will save a copy of the background image and give each file an additional number corresponding to your level.
Just remember that you must edit these files accessing MVPPaint directly from the DOS command line and not from within the game engine or it will not stick.
