When I was a kid I had the Doss GCS I was a lucky kid, I told my dad I wanted the Windows 95 version and as soon as it was available he got it for me.
So here I am in the future, with the original CD version 1.13
Multiplied by Coronavirus I've got GCS fever
When I test the levels the wav sound Clips work perfect, as well the pstr messages appear on the screen and I can continue playing the game perfectly
After making final
I load the game the menu always opens with the sound and music turned off I have to manually turn it on, but no matter what I do all I get is the MIDI music but no wav sound files play?
As well with the finished product the Pstr message appears on the screen,.. but if I hit any button to continue playing the game the game crashes, and it displays set error 195...
When I was a kid I was using this software on a Windows 98 Tower desktop , I think it was somewhere in excess of 200 megahertz... But when I would make final I never experienced any issues with sound or pstr messages....?
A little info my current computer is a Toshiba Satellite laptop which came with Windows XP installed on it when I purchased it brand new in the year 2004, the more research I do about my computer I understand it has automatically updated its operating system countless times over the years, its windows xp sp3 32 bit...
If I need to I will hunt down an old computer or components to build one... ugh.. I'm assuming we sent all of ours back to China?
Any advice would be a blessing I went bald a long time ago and I don't know what hair to pull out next...
I wish I could contact pie-in-the-sky customer support.. not happening I know...
I figured out the dosbox thing so that I could run GCS paint and save vgr files. But this is really killing me, do I need to run my GCS in a Windows 98 emulator when I plan to do the make final? Do I need to alter my registry does it have something to do with the sound drivers or the video drivers that is causing these two errors when not testing in editor? It just does not make sense that everything works in the editor but does not work in the finished product something is fishy
Thanks for reading, looking forward to an experienced GCS master response.
